Berlin Street Style
By Gavin Jewkes, 18 July 2014
There’s so much more to Berlin than currywurst, Brutalist architecture and a host of nightclubs with strict/degrading door policies (cheers, Berghain). Apparently, it’s fast establishing itself as Europe’s streetwear capital, too, nipping at London’s heels in the ‘cooler than you’ stakes.
We wanted proof of this, so sent one of our photographers to the streets of Berlin to gather evidence.
Take a look at our findings below: we’re sure you’ll agree that our German brethren are indeed a handsomely attired bunch. Do we need to raise our game? Perhaps…
Cali cool
Keep your casualwear game tight by exchanging your scuffed-up jeans for a pair of fresh sweatpants. Carry the comfort through to your feet by opting for trainers, but make a statement with colour for a look that makes people recognise that you know exactly what you're doing, despite being off duty.
Matching mates
Well, isn’t this adorable? Keep it real with your homeboy by coordinating outfits via Skype the night before your man-date…
A winning normcore combination
Denim shirt? Check. Printed tee? Of course. Box-fresh trainers? Well, duh.
Monochrome, man
Yes, it’s the height of summer, but does that mean you should surrender your beloved monochrome colour palette? Hell no! Like this chap, just keep things light in a quality cotton shirt and cropped trousers for ventilation.
