PRACTICAL MAGIC 2 – 11 SEPTEMBER
Spooky season kicks off earlier each year – do you see us complaining? 90s nostalgists will get a real kick out of this sequel. Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman star as the Owens sisters, witchy women who are cursed in love – literally. While they’ve (sort of) made peace with every man they fall for coming to a sticky end, the next generation (played by Joey King and Maisie Williams) has not. And so starts a race to break the curse and realise their power, with a little help from Lee Pace’s mysterious magic expert.

SLOW HORSES – 16 SEPTEMBER
Gary Oldman’s band of not-so-merry men are back for a sixth season. Slough House has been swapped for a safe house, however – a mysterious group are picking its members off, one by one, and the survivors are forced to go on the run. Will the surprisingly capable MI5 rejects find the killers before it’s too late? How many awards will Gary Oldman get nominated for this year? And… hang on… is that Olivia Cooke in the trailer?

JAY-Z, JAŸ-Z30 TOUR – 4-5 SEPTEMBER
Jay-Z’s stadium tour marks 30 years of the rapper as a dominant force in the industry – 25 Grammys don’t lie. This is Jay-Z’s first solo tour in almost a decade and the only UK stops are two dates at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium – so if you want to see him perform, now is the time. A host of famous guests have popped in on the tour so far, including Eminem, Rihanna and Usher. Who’ll pop up on stage this time? Rumour is that Beyoncé could make an appearance – it’s her birthday on 4 September.

 

ORVILLE PECK, MULE – 18 SEPTEMBER

Everyone’s favourite guitar-slinging cowboy is back with his fourth album this autumn. Billed as his most personal work to date, Mule is a year-in-the-life account of sobriety, addiction and getting to know the man behind the mask. Expect country-pop bops with a wry and soulful twist, plus features from music industry legends like Emmylou Harris.

 

TINASHE, POPSTAR – 25 SEPTEMBER

If the three singles already released are any indication (the glitchy, dancy Melatonin, the low-tempo synth of Crash Out, the 00s-electro Too Easy), Tinashe’s eighth album is all about the bangers. Is this the album that'll cement her reputation as the alt-R&B diva? We think it could be.

The fashion girls are out in full force.

 

LONDON FASHION WEEK – 17-21 SEPTEMBER
The shows themselves might be invite-only, but the people-watching in central London during Fashion Week is immensely rewarding and – crucially – open to all. Don’t worry if you don’t have a press pass – the British Fashion Council has put on a series of Fashion Britain events all month, from designer panels to art installations. You could see Charles Jeffrey and Nicholas Daley in conversation in Dundee, listen to Paul Smith chat about his upcoming memoir in London, or check out embroidery workshops in Manchester.
