WHAT TO WEAR WHEN IT RAINS THIS SUMMER

Ever heard the phrase ‘four seasons in a day’? The average June morning can feel like four seasons in an hour, when waking up and looking out the window gives you no real indication of whether to pack sunglasses or a rain jacket in your tote. Worry not, though. We’re going to break down all the summer rain jacket archetypes and how they’ll work with your warm-weather 'fits.

#1: THE BOMBER JACKET

This one is for the festival girlies, who have certain added considerations on rainy days: there will be mud, there will be fluctuating temps, there will be an excellent chance of spilled drinks. You’ll need a bomber jacket with plenty of pockets, in a dark colour or pattern that’ll hide a multitude of mistakes. Dress in layers (the grey hoodie can go around your waist until the day cools down), and throw Barbour’s gingham jacket on top.

#2: THE CROPPED TRENCH COAT

A trench coat is the obvious solution for a summer shower, and a cropped version is especially apt for warmer days. ASOS DESIGN’s has a powerful silhouette, with sharp shoulders and a nipped-in belted waist. Balance the shape with breezy balloon trousers and point-toe kitten heels. Tip: if you’ve got strappy heels, fasten them over the cuffs of your trousers to make the proportions really sing.
