STYLING

THE TRENDS TAKING FESTIVAL SEASON BY STORM

Boho-chic isn’t the be-all and end-all of festival fashion. OK, it might be Coachella’s unofficial uniform, but Glasto icons like Kate Moss and Alexa Chung have always favoured wellies over cowboy boots, parkas over paisley and leather over suede. In 2026, we're taking a similar style detour. A few unexpected trends and pieces are already making a big splash on festival fields: grunge and classic white tank tops, to name just two. We all know that festivals are unofficial runways, so consider your ticket an opportunity to experiment with your 'fits. Try out the four trends redefining festival fashion below.

#1: GRUNGE

Ask you to ditch boho entirely? We would never. You can still tap into it with the look's countercultural little sister – grunge. The two aesthetics often go hand-in-hand. It could be as simple as swapping your neutral crochet and ruffled tops with black versions, or slipping on silver jewellery instead of burnished gold and bronze. Faded denim, checks and leather-look accents are your shortcuts to a summer of grunge.

#2: CHUNKY SANDALS

Chunky sandals were a 90s favourite for anyone who preferred a vampy dark lip over barely-there balm, Scream over Clueless and Winona Ryder over Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy. Dr. Martens' ZebZag slides are grunge stalwarts and have that key elevated platform for your festival 'fits. Even flip-flop frontrunner Havaianas have doubled-up their soles. If you prefer extra support and security, chunky gladiator sandals radiate the same energy. Lean into the vintage influences with your look by styling them with slip dresses or denim cutoffs.

#3: WHITE TANK TOPS

Was it the underwear-as-outerwear trend or the renewed interest in the aforementioned Carolyn Bessette Kennedy that catapulted the white tank top over the barriers of the festival frontlines? Either way, expect to spot crisp, ribbed white tank tops at your next party in the park. We’re partial to classic scoop necks, but the market is brimming with options. V-necks, barely-there straps, racerbacks and lace-trimmed tops will make equally solid foundations for your look.

If you're into activewear, chances are you fall into one of two camps right now. The first: sleek, figure-hugging track jackets, matching headbands and flared pants. The second: bright, 00s-inspired capris, relaxed silhouettes and retro logos. The good news? Both are on-trend this festival season. Aside from their comfort, they consolidate two use-cases into one. They’re perfect for hitting the dance tent all weekend and restorative yoga sessions once you get home.
