ASOS WRITER SARAH SHARES WHAT'S ON HER WISHLIST RIGHT NOW

When you scroll through my spring wishlist you might assume I'm in deep mourning, because everything is black. If it's not black, it's obsidian, or onyx, or possibly a dark charcoal if I'm feeling spicy. I can't help it. I'm a woman of simple tastes. Black is great. It goes with everything, it makes you think more about the texture and fit of your clothes, and it disguises stains (a shout out to my sisters with poor hand-to-mouth coordination). So, while there is a fair amount of black in this wishlist, there's also a little bit of colour, but the main emphasis for me is on fabric, shape and pattern.
black nylon bag|ASOS Style Feed

ASOS DESIGN nylon ruched adjustable crossbody shoulder bag in black, £20

This ASOS DESIGN bag reminds me of no less than three of my favourite things – it’s made from technical nylon, so spills can be simply wiped away, ruched and frilled like my favourite accessories, and shaped like a croissant – delicious. It’s dainty enough for a dress but tough enough for a denim jacket. This bag contains multitudes, which is ironic because it’s just about large enough for a wallet, keys and a phone.

I was in Milan a few months ago, when the weather was hopping the boundary from winter into spring, and every single stylish woman was wearing a pair of barrel-leg jeans like these with pointy leather boots and an immaculately cut wool coat. Italian style is all about sprezzatura, which is a type of unstudied elegance – looking put-together without looking like you care about it. These ASOS DESIGN jeans are an easy way to get the Italian look, without having to eat a plate of pasta (though that is a highly recommended activity too).
Erborian BB cream|ASOS Style Feed

I cycle between deathly pale in winter and very slightly tanned in summer – if you’re like me, I genuinely can't recommend Erborian’s BB Cream enough. It has the coverage of a foundation with the freshness of a serum, and somehow it manages to look dewy without slipping and sliding? It must be magic.
New Balance trainers|ASOS Style Feed

New Balance 204L trainers in black suede, £120

I’m a big fan of a hybrid shoe – if it’s a trainer and a ballerina, a Mary-Jane or a split-toe tabi number, I’ve already added five different colourways to cart. New Balance’s 204L style is a perfectly panelled mishmash of trainer and hiking shoe, and this version also has double laces (an IYKYK design quirk recently seen at Miu Miu that’s popping up everywhere right now). And of course, my chosen colourway is black.

Lost Souls hoop earrings|ASOS Style Feed

Lost Souls molten circle pearl earrings in 18ct gold plated stainless steel, £14

If you look in my jewellery box, you’ll spot pairs and pairs of chunky hoops. Also, what are you doing in my house? I am predictable and proud when it comes to earrings – why not pick a signature and stick to it? Lost Souls’ hoops are my catnip, from the slightly melted shape to the reflective faux pearl placed inside. They’re slightly off-kilter in a really cool way. Also, this pair is 18ct gold-plated, which is a bit kinder to my sensitive ears than some other metals.
ASOS DESIGN polka dot dress|ASOS Style Feed

ASOS DESIGN bias cut shift dress with bubble skirt in mono polka dot, £42

For every woman, there is a polka-dot dress. It doesn’t matter if it’s on a tiered maxi for a wedding or a mesh mini on a night out: a polka dot always plays well with others. I’m picturing this ASOS DESIGN one for island-hopping in Greece. 1) It’s cut on the bias, which always looks expensive. 2) The ties at the back are adjustable, so if you’re a shortie like me you can adjust the length. 3) It has a bubble hem that’ll move beautifully. As a physically graceless person, I’ll take all the help I can get on the dancefloor.

One day I hope to overcome my crippling pancake problem, but today is not that day. My love of breakfast and brunch is well-documented among my friends and family. If a foodstuff can be covered in maple syrup, I will happily eat it. And in the case of this Pull&Bear T-shirt, I'll wear it too. I'd buy this one a size up for an extra-loose fit and tuck into the above barrel-leg jeans, or wear it with shorts on a Sunday coffee run.
