Everyone has their go-to outfit formulas. I love a trench coat, turtleneck, baggy jean and New Balance 530 combo as much as the next person (and having spent countless commutes people-watching, I can confirm the majority of London’s public do too). But as another winter rolls around, I’m looking for a bit of a refresh. If that sounds like you too, you’re in luck. The ASOS Editorial Team is here to shake up your winter wardrobe. From party-ready trainers to dopamine-inducing skirts, these are the items we’re lusting after this season: from our wishlists to yours.

adidas Originals Tokyo trainers in metallic silver and cream, £90

I’ll always advocate for wearing what makes you feel good, but I’m also not contrarian enough to completely ignore trends. Case in point: I’m a huge fan of adidas low-pros – Japans and Tokyos in particular – and the new silver Tokyos instantly became my payday priority. Although their colourway speaks to partywear, I’ll be wearing them well beyond December with my eclectic, 90s-inspired wardrobe. I’ve already mentally built several outfits with these trainers as the focal point – distressed midi skirts, full-zip knits, dark-wash denim and voluminous maxi dresses.

Topshop knitted poncho in black, £40

Want a winter top that isn’t a turtleneck or long-sleeve tee? Editorial Manager, Jazmin makes a compelling case for the poncho: 'I never thought I'd see the day I'd be wearing a poncho again, but the time has come. Hear me out – it's cosy, chic and basically like a jumper and a blanket had a baby. Unlike the first time I wore a poncho, I'll be keeping it simple with jeans and heeled boots, or a mini skirt and knee-high boots.'

Barrel jeans are just as relevant now as they were in spring/summer, and Senior Editorial Manager Katie is among their many endorsers. ‘I spotted these on the rails at ASOS HQ a few weeks ago and I’m certain they’ll do all the heavy lifting in the frenetic run-up to the end of the year – no more Frazzled English Woman for me! ‘I’ve been dipping my toes – quite literally – into new territory recently, forgoing trainers in favour of smarter silhouettes like loafers and ballet flats. In that vein, for winter I’m desperate for some brown suede boots. A pair that I can wear under jeans, with tights, dresses and long coats, to work, to parties – you name it! With that in mind, they need to be comfortable, versatile and cool, and these Topshop boots fit the bill. The pointed toe and knee length are so chic, but the soft suede and low heel mean I’ll be able to wear them all winter.’
