Polka dots are everywhere right now. From Copenhagen Fashion Week to your favourite influencer's wardrobe, everyone is seeing spots. So, if you want to refresh your new-season wardrobe with some patterned pieces, choose this one. From polka-dot mini dresses for all your cold-weather plans and polka-dot blouses and tops for your everyday vibe to statement accessories, here are five ways to wear autumn's biggest trend.
HOW TO STYLE A POLKA-DOT DRESS
Polka dots are the poster-print of the 1950s vintage beach aesthetic, and outside of bikinis, nothing channels the vibe better than a polka-dot dress. Modernise this legacy look with an all-over polka-dot mini dress and loafers – the perfect everyday look. For weddings or evening plans, dress up a polka-dot maxi with heels and a clutch.
HOW TO STYLE POLKA-DOT TOPS
If you prefer concentrating your prints on your top half, wear a polka-dot top with your favourite capris, jeans or jorts (when the weather allows). For a bit of dimension, choose an off-the-shoulder top, or keep it simple with something strappy. And for the colder months, layer up the look with a leather or suede jacket – that's double the trend points.
HOW TO STYLE POLKA-DOT SKIRTS
Keep it chic for AW25 with a polka-dot midi skirt. And for extra edge, choose asymmetric cuts, sheer layers and shirred styles. Pair them with matching tops and heels for evening and your favourite oversized jumpers and knee-high boots for daytime. Winter styling never looked so good.
HOW TO STYLE POLKA-DOT CO-ORDS
A capri co-ord is perfect for after-dark antics like date nights, and experimenting with polka-dot palettes brings an autumn-ready twist to the look. Browns, creams and any other neutrals are your go-to shades – and you don’t have to go all-out with the dots, either. Capris with a polka dot-teasing waistband and sheer tops are spot on (forgive the pun). Minimalist bags and kitten heels take this already stunning look to even higher heights.
HOW TO STYLE POLKA-DOT ACCESSORIES
Don’t want to commit to head-to-toe polka dots? Head scarves, headbands, scrunchies and scarves are by far the easiest way to add some kitsch into your ‘fit, but there’s an even whimsier contender in town: tights. A sheer pair like the ones above will bring a bit of fun to the simplest of outfits – think a grey cardigan, pleated skirt and black ballet flats.
