INSPIRATION AND ADVICE

WHAT TO WEAR TO A SPRING WEDDING

You've RSVP'd, booked a fancy hotel complete with roll-top bath, and now it's the fun part: choosing the wedding-guest outfit. Whether you're looking for that relaxed shirt that works for both a cool-and-casual wedding and your summer holiday, or a three-piece suit for the formal black-tie affair, we've covered all bases. Yes, even the accessories. Keep scrolling for the details.

CASUAL SPRING WEDDING SUITS

If the phrase 'casual suit' takes your mind to trackies, we have an alternative in mind. Oversized tailoring is easier to master than you might think – it’s all in the proportions. Wearing wide or barrel-leg trousers? Counter the slouchy feel with a sharp blazer. Think an 80s Armani-inspired double-breasted jacket with structured shoulders, or if you want something more fluid, a wrap-front blazer is the perfect option.

NAVY, GREY + BLACK SUITS, AKA THE CLASSICS

Navy, grey and black wedding-guest suits are classic for a reason, but there are some subtle distinctions to make. What’s the dress code on your invite? For black-tie weddings, feel free to break out a classic black tuxedo with satin lapels. For other smart gatherings, choose tried-and-true shades like navy blue and grey. The single-breasted, slim-fit navy blue suit is a proper wedding-guest suit staple that transcends seasons. Grey suits look suave too, and you have the option of keeping it simple or picking tailoring with a crosshatch pattern, houndstooth or subtle checks for a more modern take.

SPRING WEDDING COLOURS: MEET THE NEW NEUTRALS

Casual spring weddings are the best opportunity to experiment with colour. Pastels are the official colours of spring, and muted tones will draw eyes to you without pulling too much focus – you want to be the wedding guest star, not the headliner. At the other end of the colour spectrum, nothing hits quite like a beige suit at a spring wedding in the countryside. Get inspired by your surroundings and pick any nature-coded neutral, like sand, stone or earthy shades. Just be careful with pale colours like cream or ivory – you don’t want to match the bride.

SHIRTS AND T-SHIRTS

We're not exaggerating when we say it’s impossible to go wrong with a crisp white shirt under your wedding-guest suit. A good rule of thumb is to match your collar to the dress code. Formal wedding = button-down collar. Casual = camp collar. Dark shirts can look unexpectedly cool against light suits, especially if yours is in the same colour family, while T-shirts and vests are a good shout for casual nuptials. Just choose a heavyweight fabric (trust us, it drapes better) and a regular fit over super-baggy tees that can bunch up under your suit jacket.

ACCESSORIES FOR A SPRING WEDDING

You’ve got the wedding-guest suit, now you need accessories. Formal weddings will typically call for a tie, bow tie, or pocket square, and it's the easiest way to show your personality. Go bold with colour and pattern here. Ties are optional at casual weddings, which means more real estate for your jewellery. A simple chain often looks slick over a T-shirt, or you can get creative with a lapel pin/‘bro brooch’, as seen on the likes of Michael B. Jordan, Pedro Pascal and Adrien Brody at the 2026 Academy Awards.
