STYLE AND CULTURE

EVERY 2025 TREND WE’LL BE RE-WEARING THIS YEAR

These days, we’re turning to our personal archives more than ever for inspiration, and style is being valued for individuality over conformity. Case in point: as we head into spring, it seems many of 2025’s biggest hits are returning. Perhaps they never left – only took a hiatus in light of cold weather. Preppy boat shoes are back, baseball caps have re-emerged, and retro sportswear is still gripping our wardrobes. If you’re looking for ways to re-wear last year’s pieces this season, or fancy investing in looks that last, keep scrolling.

Did baseball caps ever really leave?

#1: BASEBALL CAPS

These humble head-toppers are a firm favourite with stars Jacob Elordi and Jeremy Allen White, achieving the coveted duo of any wardrobe item: form and function. Protection from the sun? Check. Low effort means of reviving your basics? Check. Nifty disguise on bad hair days? Check. And if you’re usually averse to colour, the baseball cap is a non-committal way of injecting some vibrancy. So don’t sleep on your cap collection – these aren’t going anywhere.

#2: PREPPY FOOTWEAR

For a while there, trainers and hoodies were kings of daily style. But 2025 took a more formal approach. Collared shirts kept cropping up on runways and quarter-zip sweatshirts went viral. The necktie even showed up in casual contexts. But the standout piece from this preppy renaissance was footwear. Boat shoes, leather sandals and sneakers in elevated finishes (think suede and satin). As our rain boots prepare for summer retirement, it seems last year’s footwear is back on the menu.

Who knew we were all so into rugby? Well, the shirts at least. 2025 was a big one for this collared top, especially those of the striped variety. And as we enter Q2 of 2026, the rugby polo is staying put. Combining vintage, preppy and heritage energy, this simple silhouette checks a lot of trending boxes. Plus, they’re fun to style under knits, jackets and trenches thanks to the interesting neckline.

#4: VINTAGE-INSPIRED SPORTSWEAR

We’ve always slipped into tracksuits and trainers at the end of a long day, but sportswear has reached new heights in the past 12 months. Track jackets are being paired with shirts and ties for evening affairs, and nylon shell suits have hit high-fashion runways. So if last summer was the birth of elevated sportswear, this year it hit puberty. Prepare for a summer of sportswear with more vintage-inspired pieces and plenty of high-low combos – think tailored trousers teamed with track jackets and leather bombers with running shorts.

#5: SHORTS, SOCKS AND LOAFERS

Short shorts are Mescal-approved.

If we’re talking trends with legs, the short short has – against all odds – prevailed. Yep, it’s time to get your bobby dazzlers out (again). Love them or hate them, there’s no doubt the teeny weeny short is set for another summer in the sun. But not without their trusty companions, loafers and socks. This threesome is the stuff of kinky tailored dreams, and if it’s good enough for Paul Mescal, it’s good enough for us. Last year's silhouettes get a reboot with primary colours like red and blue, and elevated textures from suede to patent leather.
