STYLE AND CULTURE

LEO WOODALL IS OUR STYLE OBSESSION

Leo Woodall has been thrust back into the limelight this month thanks to his titular role in Netflix’s new limited series, Vladimir (out now!), and upcoming film Tuner. With his name being inescapable (in the best way) on social media, we thought it was about time to dive into his sartorial portfolio. The English actor is a less-is-more kind of guy, often turning to sleek suiting and preppy separates – he falls closer to Cillian Murphy than Timothée Chalamet on the menswear style spectrum, and there are some valuable lessons to learn from his effortless approach to dressing. Scroll for some of Leo's best looks.

CONSIDER THE DETAILS

Starting off strong, this dark-toned ensemble is primed for a premiere. It’s made up of wardrobe essentials you likely already own: a long-sleeve top, tailored trousers and a smart coat. Together, they make a strong team. But it's the details that tip this outfit into A-list territory. The coat's upturned collar gives a slightly 80s feel, a salt-and-pepper texture lends dimension to otherwise standard grey trousers, and the chain peeking through adds a suave touch. If curating an effortless going-out look is on your to-do list, take notes.

HERITAGE CODES

When it comes to British dressing, look no further than Leo. He’s long championed icons of retro style across both polished and pared-back moments – think herringbone suits, baker boy hats and tartan everything. This tartan bomber jacket is exactly the kind of smart-casual hybrid piece your wardrobe might be missing. Tempering tartan through your looks, rather than going head-to-toe, is an easy way to tap into the trend – follow Leo’s lead with similarly transitional layers.

A WIN FOR PINSTRIPES

In the right hands (like Leo’s), a chocolate pinstripe suit is a wardrobe win. The warm hue is a softer and more spring-ready tone than black, dress code-friendly and – in our opinion – infinitely more interesting. Keep your shirt crisp and uncomplicated, like Leo’s off-white iteration, to make the chocolate pinstripe combo feel less busy. Top tip: chocolate brown and pistachio green make a delicious sartorial pairing – introduce the pop of colour with your tie, pocket square or even your smart shoes.
