INSPIRATION AND ADVICE

WE’VE BEEN WATCHING THE RUNWAYS – THESE ARE THE SPRING TRENDS TO KNOW

Besides discovering the secret second layer in a chocolate box, nothing awakens the soul like spring. Sure, summer has its strong points, but there’s something special about the promise of change that follows winter. That first fizzle of sun on your skin; the smell of blossom; the elongated afternoons. Spring is our favourite season. But it’s fashion that really wins this time of year. From ‘just right’ temperatures to sunnier palettes, the next few months were designed for transitional dressing. And after poring over the SS26 runways, we’ve compiled a formidable spring trend report. Whether you’re searching for a light jacket or diving into colourful pieces, keep scrolling for the looks you need on your radar.

BOLD SHOULDERS

A lightweight jacket is always a good idea – but never more so than in spring. We could fill a book with all the reasons to love this layer. But in the interest of time, let’s boil it down to three: versatility, practicality and comfort. A trench is waterproof (great for April showers), and breathable enough to navigate unpredictable weather. Blazers are also a timeless staple that slot into your existing roster. But 2026 invites some bolder takes, with architectural shoulders that lean into 80s territory. We’ll also see lots of funnel necks and unique textures like suede or linen. As long as you nail the basic silhouette, this layer is your sartorial playground. So have fun.

SHORTER SHORTS

We might not have reached peak shorts season just yet, but our legs are already itching for their annual debut. 2025 was the year of the oversized, uber-long jort – but this spring favours something a little… less. Shorter men’s shorts will soon be everywhere, from denim to cargos and even boxer styles. Even if you’re short-averse, this playful and boxy silhouette is deeply flattering. It also adds a modern feel to your other pieces – great for throwing on with a simple white T-shirt or more elevated shirts and track jackets. We also love this silhouette with a sock and loafer for transitional date-night dressing.

BRIGHT COLOUR POP

A spring fashion report that features bright colours? Cue the eye rolls. But there’s a reason this trend is synonymous with the shifting seasons. They’re on the nose, sure, but bold shades are filled with all the fun and frivolity that this time of year is known for. They’re also surprisingly versatile, meaning each passing year brings its own iteration. 2026 is leaning heavily into joy after years of demure dressing. From bright red blazers to lightweight colourful shirts – if it doesn’t make you smile, you’re doing it wrong.

NEW-WAVE PREP

Preppy pieces tend to come back around in September, but this year they’ve stuck around – and ties, shirts, shorts and knee socks are all leading the spring trend tables. It might be years since we set foot in a classroom, but these looks are a lesson in youthful styling. And thanks to their formal undertones (think sharp collars and crisp blazers) there’s no shortage of reasons to experiment with preppy silhouettes. If you fancy a more fashion-forward approach, reach for standout shades and colour-drench combos. Or why not mix things up by combining classic schoolboy staples with casual, tech-driven trainers and caps?
