LONDON PRIDE ACCORDING TO AN ASOS INSIDER

Pride hit the streets of London this weekend, and whilst there might’ve been a downpour, we didn’t let it didn’t rain on our parade. To celebrate, our THEYSOSers – AKA our LGBTQIA+ community – waved their flags high to prove that Pride looks good on everyone. ASOS Insider Valerio talks us through what Pride means to him, as well as some advice for the next one, whether you’re heading to a big event like Brighton (to see icon Mariah Carey!) or a different city to show your support. Scroll for the scoop.
What does Pride mean to you?
Pride represents a profound sense of joy – the joy of living freely, and the freedom to love and think without limits. At the same time, it remains a vital protest, advocating for equal rights and recognition for all individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation.

What's your Pride style this year?
Wearing my flag, owning my truth, and strutting in some ASOS finds – because making a statement should always come with style.

What is your favourite way to celebrate Pride?
For me, the most meaningful way to celebrate Pride is by marching alongside members of the LGBTQIA+ community and allies. There’s no greater expression of unity and support than standing together to celebrate. It’s a powerful (and fun) protest of ongoing fights for equality that we carry with us every day.

Some advice please! What are 3 things to bring to the next Pride?
ID, phone and – considering you'll be out all day – a water bottle. And don't forget to bring your boldest self, too!

Best place to end the Pride celebrations?
An LGBTQIA+ bar/club or anywhere else with your people. Or even home – ending with a movie night, pizza and deep convos with your chosen family can feel just right.

A key trend you’ll be wearing this summer?
I have more than one: stripes, polka dots and colour-pop details.
