Topman SS23

Travel is always a source of inspiration for the Topman team, particularly for the spring/summer 2023 collection. This season, the designers looked to the bold colours and shapes of Sicily to inform their creations. From distinctive traditional tiles to the backdrop of Mediterranean blues, elements from across the island can be traced throughout the new line-up. Discover more below as we delve into the key trends and hero pieces.

SUMMER BLUES

Throughout the collection, blue is a consistent theme – whether incorporated into prints, as colour-blocked staples or as a statement-making piece like this blazer. Bright aqua tailoring will take your event dressing up a notch, and pairing a brighter hue with black trousers gives the look a distinctly 80s feel.

PERFECT PRINTS

Our in-house print designers looked to 20th-century graphics, Matisse sketches and shadow photography to build a moodboard that conjures the light and shade of a Mediterranean summer. The result is a collection of bold printed shirts and T-shirts featuring hand-painted graphics from our London-based designers.

CRAFT

The collection is peppered with softer textures that look just as good on the beach as they do paired with city-appropriate staples. Crochets, open knits and almost-transparent jerseys are all key pieces. We’re calling this trend 'craft' because of the intricate nature of the designs – many of which are based on handmade samples created in the homes of our London design team.

TONAL TAILORING

This season’s tailoring explores the two ends of the colour spectrum. Lighter neutrals are key for spring/summer – a buttoned-up blazer, sans shirt and worn with sandals, could be just the ticket for relaxed approach to wedding-guest dressing. And then there’s classic black, designed in a new, looser fit for an ultra-modern feel.
