ASOS REWIND: THE MOST ICONIC TRENDS OF 2025, EXPLAINED

We all lived the trends of 2025, but which came out on top? We’ve analysed the data, and now we’re revisiting every trend from the past year, with the stats to prove why they really were worth the hype. In 2025, low-commitment trends turned everyday dressing into a playground, the rise of romance had us all searching for the perfect wedding-guest dress, and feet were on our minds – or at least, the shoes we chose to flaunt them in. The result? This was the year of soft power, where practical met stylish, effortless elegance ruled and warming colours took over our wardrobes. Take a look at the year at a glance, and find out just how much you loved these trends.

CHOCOLATE BROWN TOOK THE COLOUR CROWN

We were all hungry for chocolate.
Given it’s still dominating into December, let’s start with brown. Few colours manage to rule the wardrobe year-round, but the last 12 months were all about warm, earthy tones – from suede and leather to faux fur, we all had a sweet tooth for chocolate hues. Just look at the bestselling ASOS product of 2025: you couldn’t get enough of the adidas Originals Handball Spezial in brown and white, bagging over 500,000 pairs since January.

WE BRANCHED OUT FROM TRAINERS

...and J Bailey's took centre stage.
While we’ll always have love for a classic sneaker, alt styles got plenty of attention this year, too. Searches for loafers and cowboy boots were up, reaching over 200,000 and 300,000 hits, respectively. It’s no surprise we had more fun with our footwear, given 2025’s love affair with feet. From Jonathan Bailey’s infamous flip-flops to the rise and rise of ballet flats, our steppers proved that practical and stylish can always co-exist.

ROMANCE WAS ON THE RISE

The next royal wedding is pending.
From shoes to ceremonies. The past year was one for the wedding, whether you were toasting under the Tuscan sun or refreshing your feed for updates on Charli XCX’s understated town-hall nuptials. Everyone was after the perfect wedding-guest gown. In fact, over 850,000 of you searched ASOS for the ideal look. Even if you didn’t have a wedding on the agenda this year, there were enough engagements to keep the fashion inspo ticking over into 2026. The biggest, of course, was Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce – whose flower-laden proposal had us all swooning.

AND OUR MAKEUP STAYED PUT

Love was in the air, but our beauty routines were firmly grounded thanks to bestselling products from Charlotte Tilbury and e.l.f. The former’s Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray sealed thousands of looks whilst refreshing our glow, and the latter’s Power Grip Primer ensured no inch of makeup budged – so much so that it was our no.1 Face + Body product this year. If there’s one thing we’ll take from these Face + Body favourites, it’s that even a whirlwind year can’t stop a great beat.

MICRO WAS MAJOR

It was the year we tried everything.
While we locked down our beauty routines, fashion was all about having fun. It’s a good thing, then, that 2025 was the year micro trends had major impact – providing low-commitment avenues for sartorial experimentation. From animal print to polka dot and the capri comeback, the rules were out and joy was in. Case in point: the adidas Originals Samba in ASOS-exclusive cow print – one of 2025’s biggest products (they sold out in seven minutes!) and a nod to the wardrobes we built with wild abandon.

AND IN THE END, NOTHING BEAT JEANS AND A NICE TOP

Every passing year serves new inspiration and unexpected trends. But underneath all the viral moments, old favourites prevail. As a whole, jeans were searched on-site over 1.1M times this year, and 2025’s standout pieces were the ASOS DESIGN gathered mesh top and Stradivarius straight-leg jeans – proof that even the most adventurous fashion-lovers will always have time for jeans and a nice top.
