THESE MILLENNIAL FASHION TRENDS ARE WORTH REVISITING

No, you’re not living in a tumblr-infused dreamscape – millennial fashion really is back. Thankfully, moustache rings and giant owl necklaces haven’t made the cut. But a handful of early 2010s staples are popping up on runways and pavements alike, and honestly? We’re here for it. From Bella Hadid’s campaign for the skinny jean return to a rekindled love affair with millennial pink, we’ve rounded up five nostalgic trends worth a second look.

GOING OUT TOPS

Nightlife may be quieter these days, but the same can’t be said for the going out top. While Gen Z may be swapping pubs for pilates, online searches for ‘going out tops’ are at an all-time high. We can see why, too. You’ll never regret having a cute top on standby for last-minute plans. From this luxe ARRANGE number to a Miss Sixty baby tee (is there anything more millennial?) these pieces won't go unworn.

SKINNY JEANS

There were signs: first Kendrick Lamar’s skin-tight flares, then Bella Hadid strutting around in suspiciously skinny denim. Still, we never thought this day would come. The good news for skinny-jean skeptics? You can explore this style with a range of silhouettes – try a simple flare, black skinny or even a capri (Audrey Hepburn did it first – they’re nothing to be sniffed at).

LIP GLOSS

Lip gloss was a mainstay of the millennial beauty routine – it was the one thing that *had* to make an appearance on your face. The downside was that the uber-sticky 2010s formula always seemed to trap a stray hair or two. Thankfully glosses have made leaps and bounds since then, and there are plenty of products guaranteed to provide that wet look whilst nourishing and moisturising.

MILLENNIAL PINK

Millennial pink was once the shade to know, featured on tumblr moodboards, infinity scarves and (infamously) hair. Alongside other pastel hues like butter yellow, millennial pink has crept back into our summer wardrobes – rebranded as ‘wispy pink’. This ultra-feminine palette has been favoured over on the Alaïa and Loewe SS25 runways, where it’s paired with romantic organza and chiffon. Whether you’re going full-blown feminine or laid-back streetwear, there’s room for this hue in every wardrobe.

OVERSIZED BELTS

Look at any 2010s red carpet, and the oversized belt will have made an appearance. This extra-large accessory was loved by Carrie Bradshaw and Kim Kardashian – often layered over a dress or other clothing item that definitely didn’t require a belt. Still, we’ll admit they do major bits for an hourglass figure, and they can also be layered loosely over miniskirts and hotpants to create a less-structured silhouette. Mark our words, you’ll be seeing a lot more of these during festival season.
