STYLING
A DOUBLE-DENIM MOMENT
By Style Feed Staff, September 8, 2023
Whether it's Madonna in double-denim's 80s heyday, Drew Barrymore in 90s double denim or even old-school Elvis rocking men's double denim, this is the co-ord that never gets old. We can't stop screen-shotting Canadian tuxedos (the jeans potench alone is π€), so we decided it was time to put together a 'How to wear' guide for 2023. Consider this your FW23 style prescription...ππ
1. MIX UP YOUR WASHES
Not sure where to start? Mixing denim washes is the perf way to avoid looking too matchy-matchy. Try bleach-tone jeans with something much darker up top (we love this Topshop jacket) and you'll be off to the double-denim races π
2. CLASH THOSE TEXTURES
Get all π on your 'fit by throwing in contrasting textures. Think ripped vs. tailored, rigid vs. soft, or detailed vs. plain. We think this fitted corset moment will look 10/10 paired with some ripped 'n' frayed jeans πͺ‘
3. PLAY WITH PROPORTION
Just because the material's the same, it doesn't mean the shapes have to be... Case in point: this cropped denim sitch with a maxi skirt. Short and long, fitted and wide... Contrasting shapes are the way to go πΆπ£π©
4. LAYER UP
If you're looking to step beyond the usual denim combos, why not think outside the box and don a denim coat or hoodie with your everyday jeans? Yep, that's what we call effortlessly understanding the assignment π―

5. ADD ON SOME EXTRAS
Whether you're a double-denim queen or you're just dipping a (stilettoed) toe into the trend, accessories are our fave go-to. Use 'em to up an already H2T jeanius look, or to throw a fun twist into a non-denim 'fit π‘ π
