How to apply foundation

This might seem like a major eye-rolling moment, but if you don’t know HOW to apply foundation, that full-coverage look will get cakey reaaal quick. First, you need to prep your skin. That means cleansing and moisturising (plus, any other steps from your skincare routine), so your base is smooth and hydrated. Then, you need to apply a primer and insert a 15-minute (phone scroll) break. Once those two essentials have sunken into your skin nicely, choose your foundation tool. Which is kinda tricky, cos there isn’t a one-size-fits-all. Some gorgeous gorgeous girls love brushes, others love blenders… others, well, they use their fingers, and that's OK. Whatever your fave, start in the centre of your face and work upwards and outwards, covering all areas (incl. that all-important neck 😉).

Best foundation for dry skin

If you’ve got dry, flaky-AF skin, a full-coverage base can seem like a no-go zone. But if you prep your skin properly (moisturise/prime, obvs) and choose the right full-coverage foundation for dry skin, you TOO can achieve a base *without* the cake. Enter: Estée Lauder’s Futurist Hydra Rescue. It contains ✨IonCharged Water Complex ✨, probiotic tech and more innovative ingredients, which instantly hydrate your skin. Glowy finish: we love. Plus, it’s light and v buildable, so you can brush/blend/tap in areas where you want more coverage (see ya, red patches). Another ASOS fave is Bobbi Brown’s Intensive Skin Serum Foundation – it combines the benefits of a serum with the coverage of foundation. The best bit? It lasts up to 12 hours (for real!).

Best concealer

That final touch to your look, the wake-me-up-wonder and everyone’s spot-reducing secret, we’re talking concealers. Whether you use it for under-eye circles, blemishes or as an actual replacement for foundation (we see you, lightweight lovers), it’s important to know *how* to apply concealer first. Well, it’s a bit like layering – you need to build it up gradually. Use your fingers or a brush, apply a few dots and dab (don't drag), and start blending. Repeat until your face is certified-fresh. And if you’re wondering *when* to conceal, it’s AFTER applying your foundation. Long-lasting picture-perfect no-effort-makeup look: complete.
