Hey Tia, can you tell us a little about your art?
I would describe my work as a very overgrown child refusing to be an adult. My work is autobiographical, about growing up too quickly, struggling with mental health and a lack of confidence – so I really love when my audience can relate to it. I never felt like I had an identity in the real world, but on paper I have the chance to create my own world with a 2D version of myself.

What's it been like to be a part of the ASOS x Converse link-up?
I'm super excited to be a part of this project; it’s been the highlight of my year for sure! It's been the biggest confidence boost after the lockdown, so honestly, thank you so much. Meeting and working on the campaign along with the legend Milo [musician, art director, model and painter Milo Max, @whoismilomax] is a dream come true and we’re now working on a little collaboration, so stay tuned for more Milo and Tia!

What's your favourite pair from the drop?
It’s got to be the Converse Run Star Motion. They look like cute little monsters to me, and I love that they’re so unbelievably comfortable. It’s like walking on clouds.

How are you styling up your Cons for the summer-to-autumn switch-up?
Cold months are my favourite; it’s all about layers. I think for me, everything has to be oversized this autumn, whether it's shoes, bags, scarfs, hats, necklaces or belts. Go big or go home.

What advice would you give young aspiring artists?
Just keep swimming. You’re one of a kind and there is no one like you, so say that to yourself all the time. I think the thing that keeps me creating is knowing that I believe in my ethos and that I’m inspiring people to spark more conversations. No matter how many 'nos' you get along your journey, use it as fuel and you’ll be unstoppable. You’ve got this.

What's kept you feeling creative over the last year and a bit?
Weirdly, being able to take out all the frustration of it all on a canvas. I think we all feel like we’ve fast-forwarded two years. I am very lucky to have a studio and be able to create freely, so that is where you’ll find me throwing paint around.

What's planned for the rest of 2021 and 2022?
Other than working on this epic project, I would love to host workshops for children. I dream of being able to show others how art really helped me discover myself, my emotions and self-love. I am by no means a qualified therapist but art therapy is something I accidentally taught myself. I believe that, through painting, sculpting and drawing, you can be your true unapologetic self.

What’s been your biggest learning curve as a creative?
The biggest learning curve has been trusting myself. In the art world, you’ll hear 'no' more than 'yes', so confidence levels fluctuate, and it's natural to doubt your ability. However, learning to trust yourself and believing in your skill is an important lesson.

Into it? Of course you are! Take a peek at all the Converse newness below.
