We often talk about inclusivity when it comes to foundation and hair products, but there’s one beauty prod that we tend to overlookmascara! Sharon Chuter, founder of UOMA (psst... now available at ASOS 😍) has dedicated her career to making beauty accessible to everyone, and that includes their lifting, volumising, water-resistant Drama Bomb Mascara ✨ Scroll on to read our interview with Sharon herself and find out why you're gonna want to get your hands on UOMA, like, now.

Tell us about Drama Bomb. What makes it different from other mascaras?
'Many women of colour have short and fine lashes, but every mascara is produced with the same woman in mind: the white woman with long lashes. I wanted to create a one size fits all, so that’s where Drama Bomb comes in. It’s an extra volumising mascara and the technology is in the wand. The structure is an hourglass shape and what we’ve done is shrunken the size and made the bristles tightly packed which means it can get to even the shortest lashes.'

Do you have any tips for applying mascara the correct way?

'It’s mainly in the product, but the other thing that helps is to curl your lashes first and then apply the mascara. The good thing about Drama Bomb is, because it’s so soft, you can actually curl them again afterwards, which normally creates smudging – but our mascara holds and lifts.'

What’s your favourite product from the line?
'I love all my products so much, but I would say my foundation because I’m such a skin person. I’m also obsessed with the mascara because it’s a game-changer. It was one of the most emotional products that I’ve made, and it’s also very similar to how I felt when I created the foundation, because I was finally creating something that women needed.'

What are your top beauty secrets that you’re willing to divulge?
'I always say: don’t forget about your skin. Your skincare routine is everything and the makeup that you put on, especially your base, is so important. Foundation is essentially like skincare, so you should pick a foundation that loves your skin and is catered to you. This is why we’ve created six different foundation formulas customised for each complexion and their unique issues and concerns.'

What are your tips for incorporating makeup into our stay-at-home routines?
'I think it’s still nice to pamper yourself so you can find a bit of normalcy in your life. The best thing to do is simplify things. Focus on your brow products, your mascara, your lip glosses. If you choose to wear foundation, a lighter layer is always good. When you’re always in a nightie, you start to feel a bit blah so it’s good to do something a little more fun! Also, this is a really good time to master makeup! You now have time to browse ASOS Face + Body and try out what you like and compare products. Use this downtime to learn, explore and discover. It’s a lot of fun.'
