Dreaming of gravity-defying volume and healthy, glossy locks? If the heatwave, sun exposure and everything else this summer have started to take their toll on your hair, we hear you. Luckily, ghd is here to save the day: the cult haircare brand has just launched ghd Rise – its first-ever volumising smart hot brush. Bringing bounce and shape back to lifeless locks, it creates serious volume in minutes (cos ‘ghd’ means ‘good hair days’ only). So, here's how to get salon-worthy hair from your sofa...

So, you’re probably wondering how it all works. ghd Rise has been specifically designed to add extra lift at the roots by using a new technology that spans the entire barrel, along with perfect bristles that ensure the closest contact to lift your hair from the roots to give you that ultimate bounce and volume. The trick here is that the bristles need to be long enough to keep the heat away from your head, and short enough to get the lift close to the hair root (the key to adding all the volume).

The best part, though, is that ghd Rise actually works in sync with your hair, predicting its needs as you style and ensuring the temp stays at 185 degrees – meaning you won’t damage your hair in the long run (and you can bid farewell to split ends, too). So, you can now get creative with your at-home ’dos in a fraction of the time it takes to blow-dry your hair – from crafting full-bodied blowouts that look like hours were spent in a salon to mastering those effortless, beachy waves.

How to create salon-worthy volume at home? Whether you CBA to blow-dry your hair or you just want to add some extra movement, if it’s feeling a little flat, follow this quick, step-by-step guide, for an at-home look your hair stylist would be proud of.

Step 1
Spritz your roots with a root-lift spray, and part your hair either in a deep side parting (for extra volume) or a middle parting if that’s more your vibe.

Step 2
Next, take a section in front of the ear and place your ghd Rise at the root (this ensures extra volume, too). Wrap the hair around twice, away from the face, and hold for around 5 seconds; then repeat around the head until all the hair has been curled this way.

Step 3
For added volume, when you get to the crown of the head (the top part where your parting is), place the ghd Rise in your hair and wrap away from your face.

Step 4
Finally, use a Narrow Dressing Brush at the roots to add some lift (kinda like backcombing, but much better for your hair) and, finally, fix your final look with ghd’s Final Fix Hairspray,so it stays in place all day, and all night.
