ASOS CHATS TO SARAH ASHCROFT
By Steven Potter, 17 August 2020
There’s something for everyone. It’s a real mix of statement pieces for nights out, plus loads of wardrobe staples at a very affordable price.
What are your favourite pieces from the new drop?
I love the white shirt dress because you can dress it up with a clutch bag and add a pop of colour with some bright heels, or dress it down and style it with a pair of trainers. I love the colour of the suiting in the collection, too – it’s always good to have a tailored suit in your wardrobe.
‘Casual-cool’ is probs how I’d describe my style. I love vintage clothing and I’m really into anything oversized at the moment. You’ll often find me shopping in the men’s section for my oversized T-shirts and sweatshirts. Apart from tees and sweats, my go-to styling pieces have got to be legging shorts, mom jeans and comfy joggers.
If you could only dress up or down for ever, which would it be and why?
I’d dress down because I really love being comfortable and that whole ‘effortless look’ vibe. I also have an obsession with trainers – I wear them with everything!
How did you get started in the fashion blogging world?
I started my fashion blog back in 2013 as a way to kickstart a career in fashion PR. I’m a self-confessed shopaholic, so I just started posting outfits I’d put together every day. It helped build my blog and it also felt like I was putting my shopping habit to good use! When I took the blog to Instagram, my platform started to grow and before I knew it, it became my full-time job.
My days can really differ. Some I’ll be working from home, filming videos for my Youtube channel and answering emails all day. Others, I’ll be out shooting outfits with my photographer, and the rest tend to be taken up with meetings or events. As an influencer, you don’t really have a routine – but I really like it that way.
Did lockdown have an effect on your style?
Not that much, actually. I mean, I lived in joggers, but I wear joggers a lot anyway, so I wouldn’t say it did.
I’m obsessed with Bali. I just love everything about the place; the vibe and the people are just amazing. There’s always so much to do and every time I visit, I find somewhere different to explore.
What’s your best beauty tip?
For me, it’s all about skincare. If you look after you skin, when you apply makeup, it always looks better. For my morning routine, I like to use products that are rich in vitamin C and for makeup removal, I love an oil-balm cleanser.
