Let’s be honest, good hair days are feeling very few and far between lately. 🤭 With grown-out locks and 24/7 frizz becoming our new norm thanks to salons being closed, a little A-grade pampering might be just what you need to feel, erm… more normal. That’s why we’re *pumped* that Olapex has just landed at ASOS! Say hi to the boujee new addition to your next Insta #shelfie...

Not familiar with the name? Well, in a nutshell, it’s a celeb-approved haircare brand that uses professional ingredients to make your mane seriously healthy, shiny and strong. Need we say more?! 😍 And, if you really want to go all-in and upgrade your whole routine, there's lots to choose from, cos the line has not one, not two, but SEVEN steps.

The first two steps are done in the hairdressers (one to think about for after lockdown), but we've got the rest of the five steps on ASOS right now. Yup, we've got that Hair Perfector that you've heard so much about (no.3), the Bond Maintenance Shampoo and Conditioner (no.4 and 5), the leave-in Bond Smoother (no.6) and finally, the Bond Oil (which is, you guessed it, no.7). Yes, we know, it all sounds a bit confusing and long-winded, but it's actually really easy, and the results are 100% worth it, trust.

To break it down for us, we spoke to Craig Purves, pro hairdresser and Olaplex Advocate, to see what he has to say about this ASOS newbie and how it can help your tresses live their best life. And yes: it works wonders on all hair types.

Who would benefit from using Olaplex?
If you have HAIR, you can benefit from using any of the Olaplex line. The unique, patented, bond-building ingredient [in all Olaplex products] strengthens ALL hair types and textures—from bleached, to fluffy frizzy locks and even fine, weak tresses.

What's your favourite Olaplex product?
It’s so hard to choose a favourite! But from the results my clients have had using No.3 Hair Perfector, I’d say that’s at the top of most people’s lists. That said, No.6 Leave-in Bond Smoother is always with me in the salon and in my session bag. It’s incredible for bringing manageability to all hair textures.

I’m new to Olaplex; where should I start?
If you want to get the most strengthening out of it, I’d start by adding No.3 Hair Perfector into your routine once a week. Apply to damp, pre-washed hair and leave on for a minimum of 20 minutes. Most of my clients leave it on all evening, before shampooing and conditioning.

What's are the benefits of No.4 and No.5?
They're not just another shampoo and conditioner! With a sulphate-free formulation, they are balanced with moisture to condition the hair, nourishing, without being heavy. And yes, you’ve guessed it, they also contain the original bonding complex.

How do you use No.6?

I apply a little No.6 Leave-in Bond Smoother to practically every client. On bleached or coloured hair, it’s super-restorative; while it really tames unruly frizz on thicker hair. With wavy and curly hair, [it can be used] to air-dry since the ingredients enhance natural movement.

Can I mix Olaplex products with my other haircare products?

For max benefits, it’s a good idea to use Olaplex products together, as they all contain the same unique, patented strengthening ingredient. That said, they’re totally compatible with any haircare brand.
