Is it just us or does New Year’s Eve seem to creep up super-fast every year? For weeks we’re deep in festive season – you know, chugging hot chocolate, indulging in way too many sweets and blasting holiday tunes on repeat until we hear them in our sleep. Then it’s only a matter of days after Christmas that it’s time to ring in the new year.

You might have plans to celly with a fancy soiree, or maybe you’re heading to a chill house party. But whatever your plans are, the biggest question when it comes to New Year’s Eve is usually: ‘What do I wear?!

Leave it to us to help you get sorted. This year, the most fun part is that we’re all in for wearing whatever we want. What. Ever. After all, we’re on the dawn of a new decade, right? Maybe consider less traditional ’fits like velvet suits or snakeskin prints. Or what about a nod to the 1920s with a flapper-inspired dress? (Which, FYI: still stylish a century later!) And DW, we still have sparkly dresses... because NYE wouldn’t be the same without them.

So if you haven’t figured out what to wear yet, we’ve picked some of our favourite new-season looks. And remember to check out the last dates you can order based on where you live in order to get them in time for the big night.

Velvet suits

Co-ords and velvet both have the power to make you seem put-together… even when you’re not. Combine them into one outfit and you’re basically untouchable. This ASOS EDITIONpower suit is the GOAT for staying ultra comfy and stylish when you’re dancing into the wee hours of the night. Wear a chic vest or bralet underneath and then pair with heels or trainers. Basically, anything works with this one.

Snakeskin and animal print

This isn’t something you’d see in your typical NYE outfit round-up, but once you’ve seen it, you can’t get it out of your head, right? Animal print is making a case for itself this season, especially in this crisp ASOS DESIGN twosie that works for any type of weather. Pro tip: use this outfit to charm your way over to your crush for a special something (wink, wink) at midnight.

Sequin dresses

Yep, sequin dresses are (unofficially) the iconic New Year’s Eve garb. Nothing screams NYE like head-to-toe glam. So when your invite says ‘disco’, ‘cocktail’, ‘formal’ or all of the above, you know that arriving like an IRL disco ball is absolutely not off the table. This drapey ASOS EDITION mini is exactly the way we like to stand out on the dance floor. When in doubt, go all-out.

20s-inspired dresses

Art Deco-themed party, anyone? It’s still hard to believe that we’re entering the 20s – and while we can’t wait to see what the decade will bring, why not nod to ’fits from a century ago? The flapper-style look is bringing all sorts of heat this winter, with epic fringing and all the sparkle. We love a new take on a traditional NYE look, don’t you?
