When it comes to skincare right now, innovation is the word on everybody’s lips. From customised and scientific formulas to naturally derived alternatives, things are getting more exciting (and advanced) by the minute. And, since a whole load of wonder ingredients have just landed on ASOS (think ELEMIS’ kefir tea and Origins’ new retinol) we asked the pros to break down all their many benefits for us.
ELEMIS Kefir Tea | ASOS Style Feed

'Kefir is a yoghurt-like ingredient, rich in vitamins and balancing bacteria, which helps soothe your skin. Small but mighty, this facial mist is ideal for a splash of on-the-go hydration. It's infused with Rooibos tea extract and soy-derived kefir ferment, plus aloe vera and coconut water, to give you a healthy-looking glow. The added bonus? Misting is the most portable skincare around – treat it just as you would a hand cream and use it anywhere, anytime!'

Nip + Fab Salicylic Acid | ASOS Style Feed

Salicylic acid

'What can salicylic acid do for your skin? Most commonly, it's used for the prevention of breakouts, to reduce acne and inflammation, and deeply cleanse your pores. It also works to exfoliate your skin, reduce pore size and loosen blackheads. Our Nip + Fab salicylic pads couldn’t be easier to add to your morning routine – simply dab over your face in the morning and you’re good to go.'

THE INKEY LIST face alpha hydroxy acid | ASOS Style Feed

Alpha hydroxy acids

'Essentially, AHAs work as a gentle exfoliant by helping to unglue dead skin cells that can be making your skin look dull or flaky. The INKEY List AHA can be great for everyone, particularly people looking to try their first acid. We created our AHA as a middle ground between glycolic acid, which penetrates deeper into the pores, and lactic acid, which is more gentle and great for dryer, more sensitive skin types. Our AHA is a combination of fruit acids and helps to brighten and even the skin and give you that glow (especially in winter!). Our top tip? Use at night (you may want to start off with every other night if you’re new to AHAs), wear SPF during the day and use hyaluronic acid post cleansing for a hydration hit.'

BYBI Bakuchiol booster oil | ASOS Style Feed

'Bakuchiol is a plant-derived, natural alternative to retinol: it’s a collagen boosting, skin-cell-turnover inducing powerhouse from the babchi plant that smoothes and softens skin. In the same way as retinol, it benefits acne-prone and ageing skin. Our Bakuchiol 1% (coming soon to ASOS) is ideally mixed into your daily moisturiser or serum, or can be used neat on the skin prior to moisturising (though patch testing before use is always recommended).'

Origins Retinol Night Moisturiser | ASOS Style Feed

Pictures: ASOS

'First and foremost, retinol – or vitamin A – helps speed up cell turnover and target fine lines. What sets Origins’ new retinol moisturiser apart? Not only does it support your skin’s youthful look, but the advanced hydrators replenish moisture reserves and help keep dryness at bay. For my evening routine, I use a few drops of our Mega-Mushroom Treatment Lotion to prep my skin. Next, I apply my AM-to-PM go-to, the Anti-Aging Power Serum, and finally, I massage a pea-sized amount of Plantscription™ Retinol Night Moisturiser. I can’t think of a better combo to fight the multiple signs of ageing.’
