BEAUTY TREND: TWO-TONE PARTY MAKEUP
By Amelia Bell, 6 December 2018
Feeling creative? Now that the festive season's in full swing, there's no better time to experiment. So, we're doubling up on colour – that means two-tone eyeshadows are high on our agenda. They veer from the maximalist – clashing colour à la Crayola – to the minimalist (think Fenty x Savage and Temperley's ombré eyes for SS19) and everything in between. So, here's your starting point: two alternative looks in light-reflecting metallics for minimal effort, twice the impact this party season. And, here's just how to do it.
First up: select two eye shadows from Too Faced's Chocolate Gold eye palette. Apply primer to your eyelids then begin by colouring your eyelid with the lighter shade of pink from the outside corner in towards your nose and as high as the crease (use a blending brush to diffuse the eyeshadow). With the darker shade, concentrate the colour in the centre and, using a blending brush, work outwards. Line your upper and lower lashlines with a festive gold eyeliner or shadow, then finish it off with mascara and ultra glossy lip balm.
If something more tonal is more your vibe, go for two shades from the same colour family, such as MAC’s Stars n Rockets iridescent blue and the satin Electric Eel eyeshadow. Again, begin with the lighter shade, this time applying the colour in the centre of the eyes and using a blending brush to feather outwards. Apply the same colour to the lower lashline with an angled brush. Then, use an eyeshadow stamp brush and, starting at the tearduct, apply MAC’s Electric Eel shadow (use the upper lashline and crease as your guideline) and blend together. Line your lower lid with a blue eyeliner and apply mascara. To finish, simply add tinted moisturiser, brow gel and use a setting spray. Just add a suitably show-stopping sequin outfit and you're ready to P-A-R-T-Y.
