STYLING
3 WAYS TO WEAR WINTER LAYERS
By Eleanor Dunne, 13 November 2018
The cold weather is officially here and staying warm has jumped straight to the top of our list of sartorial concerns. But how do you navigate the freezing outdoors, clammy public transport and unpredictable central heating while still serving up serious style? One word: layering. Here are three ways to pile it on (and strip it off) as the thermostat dictates.

Layer player
For AW18, two coats are better than one – certainly if the Balenciaga catwalk is anything to go by. This season, the Parisian label brought layering to the next level – think the one where Joey wears all of Chandler's clothes in Friends. To avoid overheating (and back ache), we suggest just three pieces: a trench coat, a sports jacket and a hoodie. Add a bucket hat for a fresh 90s vibe.

The fluffy stuff

Fleece please
You can add the fleece to the list of kit no longer just reserved for your dad's closet (along with chunky trainers and hiking boots). This winter, the chillproof zip-up is a wardrobe staple that’s as cool as it is cosy. Buddy it up with tartan trousers and lace-ups for a look that keeps on the right side of orienteering weekend – and don't forget to add some lightweight layers underneath. To finish, a football scarf brings the accessories A-game. Go team.
