Party favour

When it comes to party season, there’s nothing a sequin dress can’t do. The epitome of festive cheer, it’s a guaranteed head-turner and conversation starter, plus it looks great under the strobe lights... need we go on? For an AW18 update, swap your usual clutch for a belt bag (the hands-free benefits are going to come in handy when you’re juggling all those cocktails and canapes).

Day-glow

If you thought a sequin dress was just for the dancefloor, think again. Blogger Caro Daur's look makes a strong case for bringing the trend into your daytime lineup, too. Pair a high-neck, long-sleeve top with a sparkling maxi for a bold look that has some serious fashion credentials (and is perfect for when the chill sets in). Dial the look up with bold colours and high-octane add-ons for maximum impact.

Trouser power

When you’re looking for a pick-me-up in the cold months, disco ball-inspired trousers have got you covered. Reach for these babies on those not-in-the-mood-for-a-dress nights and pair them with a slinky cami and a longline blazer. Or, if you’re feeling daring at the weekend, throw them on with a denim jacket and white lace-up boots for a dose of fun.

Throwback time

This street-styler’s look combines two of our favourite trends: glitter and the 90s. We’re loving the Sporty-Spice-meets-Studio-54 vibes. Who knew that a sequin crop top and a tracksuit were a match made in heaven? Add polish with slicked-back hair and minimal makeup, and on top, skinny sunnies win extra style points.

Less is more

For the minimalists out there, the thought of a fully sequinned ensemble may have you waking up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat. But with this look, Dutch blogger Linda Tol proves there’s a pared-back way to tap into the trend. Go for a silver sequinned skirt and layer it under an oversized knit for a more subdued approach. Keep the accessories to a minimum too.
