AUTUMN OUTERWEAR GETS PLAID
By Caroline Ferry, 13 October 2018
Even if you're a hot-weather hun and mostly live for sandy toes and ice creams, there's something kinda glorious about this in-betweeny autumn weather. Firstly because you’d be hard pressed to find a more healthy and cost-effective pastime than kicking your way through heaps of red leaves in the park. Secondly because the season’s layerable treasures breathe a whole new lease of life into your silky summer styles.

Take this dreamy combo snapped at London Fashion Week last month. A nightgown-style maxi dress feels right at home in the new season thanks to the addition of a very cosy tartan jacket. Keeping the rest of the accessories very much AW, the matching brown leather clutch, punky belt and western-style shoe situation pulls it all together nicely.

Fancy trying it out? Too right, you absolutely should. Bring your favourite slinky separates – be it a midi skirt or culottes – right into autumn with you by engaging those two clever styling tricks. First up is your outerwear – jacket, jumper or coat, just make it plaid. And second of all the accessories – keep them matching in print (tartan) or in punkiness (chunky boots) and you’re onto a winner.
