HOW ASOSERS DO ANIMAL PRINT
By Grace Cook, 27 July 2018
Animal print is the quickest way to update summer denims this season. But keeping it mini rather than a full-on jean stops it looking too rodeo cowgirl. Keep the mini skirt on point with the must-have slide of the summer – or perhaps ever – the adidas Adilette. A colour-pop tee adds some serious street-style sass.

Leopard print is everywhere at the moment. Seen on the runway at Tom Ford, Victoria Beckham and Calvin Klein, it’s become almost as ubiquitous with 2018 as this never-ending heatwave. But the best way to stop yourself getting sick of spots is to change up the colour, like Gaia. Also, choose a blown-up print, rather than compact – and the cherry-red background of this dress keeps it fresh. Likewise with the contrast print on this simple slip – mixing it up nails two trends in one: animal and pattern clash. Team with a summer sandal to nail the summer work look.

A cropped shirt slung over a black bodycon mini is the easiest and most laid-back way to wear a print, as Lakeisha so stylishly demonstrates. Perfect for throwing on after dark when you’re still al fresco drinking but the evening chill sets in, this cropped style looks cute when tied up to channel those 90s vibes that are forever our outfit inspo. Chunky sneakers keep it cool rather than girlie – choose a pastel pair like these Nike M2K Teknos.

If you’re going to wear animal print, you might as well embrace it and go bold, right? This fiery orange leopard print is a serious statement-maker. Again, a mini-skirt version stops it being OTT and keeps it urban – take style notes from Eve and team it with a cheeky slogan tee. A pair of retro sneakers prove the perfect accessory – in this case, the classic Nike Cortez.
