5 SPRING DRESS IDEAS FROM ASOS INSIDERS
By Maybelle Morgan, 18 April 2018
It’s a miracle... Spring has finally sprung, which means warmer weather, longer days and lighter layers. And it’s not just enough to shed the cold-weather accessories – your wardrobe deserves a new-season overhaul, led so very capably by the spring dress. Whether it’s retro polka dots, pretty prints or just a fresher colour palette, take notes from these five ASOS Insiders who know a thing or two about it.

Purple reign
Yes, fortune favours the brave. And if you’re feeling particularly confident in the rising temps, then follow in the footsteps of ASOS Insider Elizabeth in this purple printed mini dress with ruffle straps. A cropped lilac cardie goes over the top (cos, you know, UK weather) before Elizabeth gives the look a 90s touch via white gym socks and technical metallic trainers. To finish? The most mini of mini bags in check (v. Paris Hilton circa The Simple Life) to break up the sugary colour party.

Flower party
Proof that florals for spring are totally groundbreaking? ASOS Insider Ebony in this vintage-style tea dress, featuring a bold mustard painterly print. The long sleeves and midi length make it time-of-year appropriate – then, you just need to rely on your accessories to turn up the heat. Rows and rows of gold chains and clashing pendants dress up the neckline, while solid Dr. Martens sandals in baby pink faux fur amp up the fun.

Spot on
Polka dots were a repeat offender on our wish lists throughout autumn/winter. So, keep it fresh by switching up the colour palette à la ASOS Insider Hannah in this dreamy spotty midi dress with contrast red and peach print. Bonus points go to the Scandi-style high neck, 80s-fab ruching and the £££-looking fluted sleeves. Then, Hannah stops the dress from going overpoweringly smart by pairing it with graphic-print skate socks and red high-top Converse.

The best part of any look? When you can repurpose it and wear it again, obviously... (we’re not made of money). And ASOS Insider Kicki has the skill down, as exhibited by this casual-meets-smart hybrid outfit, which just works. The dress? The fanciest silky wrap number with a flowing ruffle hem. Kicki makes it day + spring appropriate by swapping out the expected PM heels for some futuristic ice-white trainers.

In bloom
Stepping into spring isn’t always about going gung-ho into warm-weather dressing, but rather making the subtle transition by swapping in lighter, brighter pieces. Case in point? ASOS Insider Lotte, who makes a black floral midi dress the centrepiece of her outfit and adds a longline heritage check blazer to streamline her silhouette. Fishnet tights mix up the smart/grunge influences, while a slick of red lippie and pointed ankle boots nail the look with a pop of colour.
