3 WAYS TO WEAR A SPRING BLAZER
By Maybelle Morgan, 17 April 2018
There aren’t too many certainties in life, but one sure thing is that the blazer is, and always will be, a wardrobe classic. A tailoring wonder perfect for adding instant smarts and working-girl structure to any outfit, it’s just a matter of picking your spring cover-up of choice. And this season’s beauties have had a subtle 80s twist, repping some double-breasted magic or powerful punchy colour. Here are three ways to work it…
In the creamiest of bubblegum pinks, it’s hard to not feel something for this dreamy two-piecer. Here, the double-breasted blazer hits the retro note and comes with Dynasty-style angled lapels (bonus points for the chic tortoiseshell buttons). But it’s when it's paired with the matching tapered trousers that it truly makes an impact. Ramp up that 80s thing and take the formality down a notch by finishing the look with red hi-top skate sneaks.
In case you missed it, heritage checks were a must-do all throughout autumn/winter, and as we move into spring, the obsession continues on our lighter layers. Case in point? This longline jacket in fresh dove-grey and blue heritage checks. Layered over a silky yellow asymmetric slip dress, it makes for the perfect fancy dinner outfit accompaniment. Metal-capped western boots clash up the look and add some sturdy attitude.
They say opposites attract, and this outfit is a merry meeting of smart and sports casual. For the base layer, it’s all about retro gym comfort: think a white oversized slogan tee layered over some cropped black leggings. Keep the monochrome palette going with some low-key white running trainers. And for the pièce de résistance? A double-breasted blazer (minus the buttons for extra Scandi-factor), in spring-vibes peach and baby-blue gridlines. Perfection.
