SS18 TRENDS TO TRY NOW
By Caroline Ferry, 13 March 2018
As a rather epic month of fashion shows finally draws to a close, there’s been much reflection (read: chat) around which trends to embrace and which trends to wave goodbye to for the season ahead. Using some very non-scientific methods, we’ve come up with a fail-safe formula for picking your new styling tricks for SS18 greatness, based on what you were wearing last season. So here goes…

Try SS18 trainers
If you look back on 2017 style in years to come, there will be just one picture in the fashion history books, and it will be a slip-on loafer. That’s indisputable. And heel-haters can rejoice as there are some new flat mates to fall in love with this season, and they’ll keep your heels a whole lot warmer. Meet the fashion trainer. A little bit Spice Girl, a little bit normcore, and a tiny bit futuristic. Yes.

Try SS18 rainbow leather
The vibe last season was definitely for high-shine patent leather where possible, usually trousers, and always worn in a really loose, cool, not-too-sexy way. Spring is calling for something entirely different though – buttery-soft leather jackets reign supreme in, wait for it, a rainbow of bright colourways. The light blue one here is made even more perfect by keeping the whole look one colour. We’ll try if you do.

Try SS18 knee-highs
The resurgence of the 80s brought with it some absolute bangers last season, and the love for a white ankle boot in particular was real. For a more timeless update, switch yours for simple leather knee-highs for SS18 which are a little bit 60s when accompanied by a black roll neck and a bold blazer, or so 70s when paired with a floral midi dress. Wear now with jeans or in a few weeks time with all your new-season tea dresses.

Liked AW17 double-denim...

Try SS18 jeans-and-blazer
Many of us really embraced the double-denim dressed-down feel of last season. But it doesn’t feel quite so right for a rather more dressed up, smart spring ahead. Suit jackets, particularly oversized, could-almost-be-your-dad’s, grey checked ones are essentially your new wear-with-everything-saviours. As great with jeans as they are with a flippy skirt and heels, consider your denim days just a little bit fancier now.
