If you’re wary because of the associations with your dull 9-5 wardrobe or anything remotely workwear-based, you can forget it. Make the trouser suit cool this year by going uber-quaint and taking inspiration directly from your dear old nan. And we’re not just talking tailoring. You've got to commit to a full-package vintage-style accessory, styling and attitude deal.

Think Dynasty meets your granny’s sweet little salmon pantsuit. The 80s cut is v. v. important: so padded shoulders on an oversized blazer, with ankle-grazing darted trousers. But to really make the look sing, don’t forget the super-ornate (more is more) treasure chest add-ons. Loafers come encrusted with pearls and your cross-body in rich satin jacquard – all to up the fancy factor. Finish by mashing up your influences and adding some 00s oval tinted shades to peer out through. Bossed it.
