INSPIRATION AND ADVICE
HOW TO DO RAIN OR SHINE STYLE
By Maybelle Morgan, 14 January 2018
It’s cold and dark, biblically raining one second and mercilessly sleeting the next. Right now, we don’t blame you if your wardrobe resembles a Bear Grylls survival kit more than anything else. But sometimes, what you need at the end of a pretty bleak style tunnel is a shining light. One that, in this case, is manifesting itself as some damn fine weather-appropriate outfit inspiration. And serving it in a major way is German blogger Caroline Daur, who's bringing Blade Runner vibes to your everyday looks…
Through thick and thin, the mac has been a long-serving member of your wardrobe. And now, all over the AW18 catwalks (we see you, Calvin Klein) and putting on a squeaky show on the big screen in last year’s Blade Runner 2049, the quintessentially classic staple has had a futuristic plastic-fantastic update.
It’s all about the transparent vinyl mac in tinted stone, but the key to make it work for daytime is to keep the rest of your outfit toned down to bring out the gloss. Take inspiration from Caro Daur and layer a short heritage-check trench underneath the clear coating to let the timeless print peep out.
For your base layer, start with a grey logo tee and stirrup skinny jeans before adding chunky platform boots for your weekend strolls or white retro slingbacks for a more dressy affair. Then, finish with a dusty rose bum bag slung around the whole lot to add a subtle dose of colour and bring the look together.
