5 COLOUR COMBOS THAT WIN
By Maybelle Morgan, 5 December 2017
It’s cold outside and the days are so very short, so it’s important to get your joy where you can. We’re talking about your ever-faithful wardrobe, where a lit colour combo can brighten the darkest of December mornings. Someone who knows all about this is ASOS Insider Barbara, who’s constantly serving up a rainbow cake slice of outfit inspo. Here are 5 of her best looks…

Pink panther
Pink can be a tricky one. Too much and it can veer into Barbie-girl territory; too little and you haven’t committed enough. Barbara nails the aesthetic by going for different gradients with her pinks and adding some print. An oversized logo tee goes over some vinyl coral trousers and is topped off with baby-pink technical trainers and a logo tassel scarf. Layered over that is a cutesy gingham blazer, a baseball cap, and...? You guessed it: some magenta-tinted shades. So good.

Coal soul
There’s a reason black is a winter fail-safe, but if you’re sticking with the sombre seasonal staple, there are still ways to lighten the mood. Barbara knows it’s all about interesting textures and detailing. A silky dark tracksuit is jazzed up with AW17-fave slogans and a vinyl quilted coat adds that rain-and-shine street-style appeal. Chunky monochrome trainers seal the weekend chill deal.

Black and yellow
This two-shade look is all about the classic clashing of light and dark. All-black everything makes for the perfect base, but amp up the bottoms by going for vinyl joggers and a tee with a simple print. Smarten it up with an 80s-vibe mustard longline blazer and add casj yellow suede sneaks to mash up influences. And the devil is truly in the detail here: a canary beret and lemon socks peeping out make for a truly stare-worthy getup.

Banana split
So, the weather's pretty unfriendly outside at the moment and sometimes all you want to do is stay in bed. Your second-best option? Seriously snug leisurewear, and we're all over this sporty jersey combo in cutesy yellow pastels. Add a matching yellow beanie for colour continuity and finish off with pink checked socks and green sneaks to clash up the look.

Green envy
This look is all about almost-animal texture galore. Here, the cosy winter coat is turned alien lime green in shaggy faux-fur and layered over deeper mossy snake-print trousers. A printed scarf (with green accents) adds even more dimension and super-technical sneaks finish that ‘welcome to the jungle’ vibe.
