HOW ASOSERS DO TEA DRESSES

We know, we know. It’s not summer any more. But one of last season’s fave silhouettes is following us straight into FW17 and we’re pretty pleased about it. Yes, it's the oh-so-pretty tea dress, brightening up your wardrobe with ditsy florals, retro polka dots or acid brights. See how everyone at ASOS is wearing the trend their way…

Mellow yellow

Dress for the weather you want, right? And Siobhan evokes those sunny vibes with this fluttery yellow tea dress with semi-sheer cap sleeves and asymmetric hem. To avoid going too English countryside, she jazzes up look with some bold '80s-style red vinyl pants and chunky Nike AF1s.

Two for the price of one

Why settle for just one print when you can have two? This clashy ditsy column dress with wrap-tie detailing gives a flower-power overhaul. To break up the pretty, Kady layers up with a sporty adidas top with monochrome tipping and finishes with some casj Converse high-tops.

Neon noise

If you’re going for impact, there’s nothing like a smattering of florals with a dash of neon thrown in for good measure. Francesca keeps all eyes on the high-neck dress (with a sassy back cut-out) by adding layers of gold necklaces and some retro-look white heeled boots.

Spot on

It’s all about that retro revival right now and monochrome polka dots are bang on the money. Cat dresses down her midi tea dress (ft. '80s sleeve ruching and frills) with retro acid-wash skinny jeans and makes it day-appropriate with fresh white high-top Converse.

Lady in red

Sometimes less is more and when you’re already working with a super-feminine silhouette (ruched sleeves, dipped hem and all), all you need is a splash of color and you’re good to go. Lori finishes her bright scarlet look with some disco-ready silver pointed boots.

Tipped off

After something a little bit different? It's the English countryside meets '70s track star with this eclectic ditsy tea dress with sports tipping detail. To stop the outfit from looking too twee, Rachel goes hard on mashing up the influences and layers it up with a metallic ribbed zip-up, finishing with glittery socks and furry backless loafers.
