HOW TO DO GIRLIE WITHOUT BEING GIRLIE

Here's the issue: you’re a jeans-and-sneaks kinda gal, but it’s summer and that whole girlie thing isn’t exactly your forte. We get it. Step one? Say yes to the dress (done right), just like this very chic, colour-coordinated festival-goer from Panorama Festival in New York.

The key to racking up pretty points on your outfit without going gung-ho are subtle details and sleek silhouettes. The midi slip dress has always been the grunge-girl staple, but give it a feminine update by opting for a satin mustard number with peekaboo straps.
Next, enlist the help of a cover-up to add texture: a 70s-style shirt with floral lacing, gilded finish and knuckle-grazing sleeve ruffle. Tassel earrings and retro cat-eye shades (the Insta-famous accessories of SS17) add subtle cool-girl pretty, but – to give the look a firm street-style vibe – finish with white high-tops and a no-fuss bag.
