A NIKE RUNNER'S GUIDE TO EAST LONDON
By Maybelle Morgan, 6 August 2017
Sometimes finding the motivation to get fit can feel like a mission in itself, however, often all you need is sound advice from someone who’s got their routine nailed down. So, we spoke to model and runner Ocean Lewis about how she gets inspiration from her mates, the local neighbourhood and wearing the right kit for the job.
Ocean Lewis, 18, model and runner, lives in Shoreditch, London
Why is running your go-to?
It's universal. Everyone can do it. Whether you're a sprinter or a long-distance runner, quick or slow...
What do you love about running in East London?
The contrast between vintage Shoreditch and classy Liverpool Street is something that represents all of East London. It's diverse and has a lot to offer visually.
What do you wear on your runs?
Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 34. They're the most comfortable running trainers and not too heavy.
What do you prefer about running with mates?
It's the best distraction from the pain you feel when you're pushing yourself. I run with my mates Aron and Dice, who live locally. I met Aron through a running event and Dice is one of Aron's best friends.
Top tip for running?
You can push yourself further than you think. Imagine a lion chasing you during your last rep and you'll see the difference.
Your running route?
Leytonstone – Wanstead Flats – Whipps Cross – Leyton High Street – Stratford – Hackney Wick, London.
