EVERYONE IS WEARING
PVC trousers = your next statement piece
By Joanna Kyte, 3 March 2017
Along with the rise of trophy gingham and oversized hoodies in SS17, vinyl trousers are here to join this season's hall of fashion fame. It’s time to cover your pins in shiny plastic (trust) and these eight style queens are going to show you how.
PVC(asual)
When splashing a statement in PVC bottoms, keep the rest of your vibe chill-as. Look to Kendall Jenner for inspiration and take your most fashion hoodie (drooling for this Gucci) and add in a structured red blazer. Boots on, hood up, you got this.
Street shine
This look is so super major, it'll make you the Pied Piper of street-style photographers. Reach for a pair of straight leg PVCs with hot detailing (fancy zips and hoop charms will work here) and match with a graphic tee. Then, slip on a pair of (equally plastic fantastic) court shoes and your loudest faux-fur jacket.
Candy crush
We figure that if Barbie ever entered the matrix, this is what she would wear. So, style your latest bubblegum purchase (anyone else's wardrobe becoming 99% pink?) with a pair of slouch PVCs and werk it. Loafers and statement sunnies will finish this look off good and proper.
Speak chic
High-waist leather-look trews are a thing worth taking note of. Why? Because they look unreal paired with slogan sweatshirts and pointed flats, that's why. Level-up your look with thick gold hoops, a studded side bag and cat-eye sunnies.
Dressing up
When you’ve exhausted all your party dresses, a pair of slightly cropped high-shine trousers will be faithfully waiting. Add in a going out-out top (embroidery is big this season) and some chic-as barely there heels for a fierce new look.
Biker, baby
To turn the dial right up on your badass meter, take note from the sassiest face in fashion, Bella Hadid. Style a pair of tight, mid-rise PVCs with a black crop top, ankle boots and a cropped leather jacket for a serious look-at-me statement.
Fashion week
Upgrade your street-style look with high-waisted patent slacks that carry a little extra detailing, just like this side bow. Now that you’re channelling a bit of the 80s, just throw on a simple black knit and some coloured courts. Those paps are coming.
Be cool
This is how to give your usual dinner-date outfit an edge. Go for a cropped leg and style with your slinkiest cami top, a pair of matchy high-shine loafers and some delicate accessories.
