The lowdown on ASOS Insider Shope
By Anna Heaton, 29 July 2016
Shope Delano just graduated from Nottingham University with a first-class honours degree in economics and philosophy, while also managing to run and write her own blog, and get a job as an ASOS Insider all at the same time. Basically, she's superwoman at 21! Read on to find out all about your fave new Instagram stalk and see her #AsSeenOnMe looks...
What are you up to this summer?
I have lots of travel plans – I went to Copenhagen earlier in the year and it was stunning… just like London but 10x more chill and 10x more spacious. I’m also heading to Croatia, Milan, Madrid and hopefully squeezing in Lisbon, as I’ve wanted to go since forever. In between, I’ll be updating my blog and YouTube channel, and doing lots of reading (I’m a sucker for self-help books, even though I’m a bit skeptical about them!).
How did you get into blogging?
It was a totally impulsive decision. Back in 2010, I stumbled across the blogging world and thought, 'I want to do that.' I would run home from school every day and take pictures in my room – this was before blogs looked glossy, so for some reason people tolerated my grainy, zoomed-in photos. Sometimes, my friends come across my 15-year-old internet-self on Google and send me the photos – cringe! The coolest thing I’ve done so far has to be Berlin Fashion Week last year.
Describe your style...
It always depends on my mood. My wardrobe is predominantly a boyish/casual/denim mash-up, but I try to pair everything with sassy or dressed-up accents, like heeled sandals and stacked jewellery. I love loose silhouettes and everything oversized, plus a chunky-heeled boot never goes amiss. For summer, I’m in love with off-the-shoulder tops.
Top item on your SS16 wishlist?
Anything from the latest Jeffrey Campbell collection that just dropped on ASOS, it is to die for – especially the pink fluffy sliders. They’re not usually my style, but I am so up for styling them as a jazzy accessory with an otherwise chill outfit.
Name three items in your make-up bag that you can’t live without…
Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner, Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow in chocolate, and good old Vaseline.
What’s next on the agenda now that you’ve graduated?
Next year, I’m off to study a master’s degree in management and entrepreneurship, which I’m super excited about. My undergrad didn’t exactly align with my interests and while I wouldn’t change the experience for anything, the prospect of studying something that I actually enjoy is so exciting for me. The dream is to launch and run a successful fashion e-commerce business, so I’m motivated to pick up as much technical knowledge as soon as possible.
