What keeps you busy?
Aside from my modelling, I'm doing a lot of film-making and travelling. I’m away right now in Berlin researching for one of my films.
How did you decide to get into film-making?
After years of modelling, I started speaking out about the body and how not worrying about your weight is a way of life, not a trend. I wasn’t seeing the diverse representation of girls I wanted to see in the media, so instead of complaining about it, I decided to do something about it. I wanted to grow that conversation around body image, but show it in a different realm.
Tell us a bit more about your films…
Travel was a nice way to get across what I wanted, because to make the most out of your experience, you can’t control everything – you have to eat everything and capture everybody. So much travel programming is done by men, which for women always feels quite one-dimensional. I want to make educational programmes that reach out to people.
Describe your style…
It’s definitely colourful, colour has so much power to change how you feel and how others interact with you. My wardrobe rail is like a rainbow, but it’s also very practical. I wear lots of trainers – neon ones are my favourite for this season (especially my Nike Cortez). I live a life where I do things at the drop of a hat so I want to dress comfortably. My fave item is a crinkle candy-pink Issey Miyake jacket – I love Japanese designers.
What are you loving this season?
Now that it’s actually summer, I’m really loving 90s slips. They’re comfortable, sexy without trying so hard and there’s so many different ways to wear them. I’m obsessed with this orange one – I feel like a summer mermaid in it. I’m living in string vests this summer, too – they make me feel tropical even in the drizzle.
