Five lipsticks with serious staying power
By Maybelle Morgan, 17 March 2016
We all know that the right lippie can take you from stay-in central to Taylor Swift on tour in two swipes, but the quest to find one that doesn’t leave a faded 90s-style lipliner by the end of the night? Not so easy. Well, not anymore, cos here are five to introduce to your make-up bag, and all road-tested, just for you…

Lipsticks to love
A red lip is an instant pick-me-up and gets you going-out-out ready in no time, but it’s also a constant battle against the dreaded smudge (hello teeth, chin, nose?). So, I’ve spent the last few weeks trialling reds with real staying power. Prepare for a picture-perf pout…

Au-au-audacious
For colour with absolute wow-factor, this lippie is one to add to bag, pronto. With a creamy, heavy-pigmented formulation, one quick coat does the job and you’re set for all-night impact, with minimal budge. Apply-on-the-bus easy.

Matte kiss
If matte’s your deal, but you want to avoid the flaky factor, you’ll be wanting to nab this Daniel Sandler lipstick RN. The texture is surprisingly moisturising, thanks to the avocado and jojoba extract, but it does need a little more careful application. It's worth the extra TLC, though, for the glam, velvety finish.

New classic
If it’s a classic shade you want, Revlon’s your new BFF. This lippie delivers the colour-impact goods, but can be slightly prone to transferring onto the skin. Battle the slide by applying a liner to lips beforehand to define and contain the power pout.

Goes both ways
Available in both gloss and matte finishes (I’ll take 'em both, thanks), this is one for those after a high-impact pout. Super-creamy with a smooth formulation, press a tissue onto the lips to remove excess product, before slicking on again. Top tip: scrub lips with a damp towel before application to avoid a flaky deal.

FIVE LIPSTICKS WITH SERIOUS STAYING POWER
It may take quite a few coats to get the desired impact with this slightly sheerer (but super moisturising) Anna Sui lipstick, but with its show-stealing star-shaped nib and delish tea scent, it’s totally worth it. Carry in your clutch and top up throughout the night for best smile award.
