Beauty Lowdown: the AW15 soft smoky eye

Up there with the red lip and eyeliner flick, the smoky eye is among the beauty greats, but for AW15, softly softly is how it goes. As seen at the Burberry Prorsum and Diane von Furstenberg shows (we've got your attention now), the new-season update is all about a lighter approach. Here's how to channel it.

Max Factor brought earthy tones to our attention at the DVF show for a strong yet soft variation of the smoky eye. A classic black palette was exchanged for a nude base and neutral shades, which were then set off by smudges of bold charcoal.

No stranger to nailing it in the style stakes, Emily proves that her beauty game is as on-point as her wardrobe choices. She nailed the DVF smoky-eye look in rich brown shadow for night-time, but a subtle approach will work for daytime, too.
