NEW DROP

BTS WITH ASOS DESIGN X TTYA LONDON

When we talk about size inclusivity, tall women often get left out of the conversation. At 5'11, entrepreneur (and ex-ASOS stylist!) Irene Agbontaen realised this early on – and that's how TTYA London came to life. Standing for 'Taller Than Your Average', TTYA is a fashion brand made with 5'9+ women in mind, without compromising on style. What began as a side project from Irene's bedroom in 2013 has now become a space where women of all sizes can feel welcomed and find things that *actually* fit.

Now in a new collab with ASOS DESIGN, TTYA brings us a gorge 11-pair shoe collection available from US sizes 6 to 15 (available exclusively at ASOS!). From bold ballet flats and kitten mules to a tall girl's perfect over-the-knee boot, there's something for everyone and every vibe. At the photoshoot for the new drop, we spoke with Irene and her friends (who helped model the collection), including entrepreneur Sophia Tassew (@manlikesophia) and podcaster Tolani Shoneye (@tolly_t). Step in and stand tall with the collection you won't want to miss.

While getting her nails done at the Mazal Beauty & Wellness salon – and sporting the satin mules from the collab that have us green with envy – Irene gave us the lowdown on the new collection. 'ASOS was one of the first big brands that launched a Tall category, so I'm really excited to re-partner with them on this collection. It's super fashion-forward, as well as part of a whole narrative,' she says. 'I used to have to wear menswear loafers because I couldn't get shoes that fit, but [this collection] is super-feminine, super-chic and there's something for everyone.'

Her favourite pair in the collection? The thigh-high boots 😍 (scroll down!) 'They're something that I've always wanted, but never been able to get. You know, usually an over-the-knee boot is like an under-the-knee boot for me!'

Wearing the line's mesh boots, and a neon ASOS DESIGN dress – perfect for your next BNO – Tolani, AKA Tolly T, describes Irene as a 'big sister'. And even though she's a petite woman, she's got big love for TTYA. 'If you're a person who struggles to find something that's for you, you want to have things that allow you to feel seen. And I think that's what TTYA does,' Tolly says. 'It allows women to feel like they can stand out. I don't think we can underestimate the power of these things.'

Sophia (formerly one of our ASOS Insiders, ofc!) met Irene through ASOS years ago, and they've both been in each other's circles ever since. 'I love the fact that a Black woman owns this sort of brand,' Sophia says. 'I want to support people and I want to go where I feel included and thought of – instead of spending my money at places where I often feel excluded.' For the perfect statement heel, try the strappy embellished midi heels that Sophia stuns in.

When we ask Irene for advice on wearing what you want to wear, no matter what you look like, she says: 'Own it, sis. I used to be so intimidated about standing out, but I actually realised that standing out and being tall is my superpower. People might never remember my name, but they're always gonna remember the tall Black girl that walked into the room.'

So... who else is ready to shop TTYA?! Yeah, same 😍
