Have you ever wondered what music festivals were like in the '90s? True rave vibes, epic singalongs, trying to find people without phones... We can only imagine the beautiful chaos. And while (unfortunately) we can’t teleport you back, we can give you a glimpse of what the style was like back then versus now, thanks to our friends over at ASOS Marketplace and its new boutiques. All the while giving you some ideas for your own festival ‘fits, naturally...

This week, ASOS Marketplace launched its Oxfam, Barnardo’s, and TRAID boutiques, which means you can now shop top-quality vintage pieces while donating to charity. Win-win. To create our '90s look above, we’ve gone with a pair of popper pants from the boutiques, giving us all the Sporty Spice vibes we need.

On top, a sequin tube top adds that touch of festival-worthy sparkle that's 100% necessary whatever the decade. Then, a fanny pack is the accessory of our childhood dreams. So good, and all for excellent causes. Chunky white sandals from 2019 complete the look — so '90s you wouldn't even know they're not vintage.

And now we have our new festival ensemble from the modern day. The sparkle is still there thanks to a chainmail-esque silver crop top and, down below, a pair of utility-style pants and chunky sandals tap into key SS19 trends. And finally, some visor glasses give it a futuristic spin.

The conclusion of our comparison? Now that basically every '90s trend has been resurrected, the vintage picks would look on-point at any upcoming summer festival, while the modern ‘fit is coming through with some seriously good 2019 themes. We’ll take it all, please....
