5 OUTFIT IDEAS TO STEAL FROM NEW YORK FASHION WEEK
By Caroline Ferry, September 20, 2018
We’re right in the midst of fashion month — two cities down, two to go — and already our eyes have been feasting on a smorgasbord of new-season trends which, we're excited to say, can be adopted immediately, if not sooner. From power pants to fancy back-to-school styling, here are five of the best to try now.
If, like the rest of us, you’ve been living in midi tea dresses all summer long, you’ll be wondering what to do with them all now that fall is here. The trick? Just a few simple swaps. Lose the sandals and instead add your fall/winter knee-high boots. Archive your straw bag for the season and instead invest in a simple, sophisticated leather number and that shell jewelry? Switch in some oversized gold hoops and rings instead. Et voila.
Back to cool
September just feels back to school, even if those days are far behind you. The grown-up way to do it this season? Just. Like. This. The uniform elements are there with the simple houndstooth dress and ankle socks, but the sleek turtleneck layer, two-tone trench coat and no-messing loafers mean serious business.
For some, summer is more a state of mind than a season, and the cold weather rolling in is just not their problem. Sound like you? Nod respectfully to the new season with a loose-fit, wool shirt-jacket hybrid but for the most part, keep on stretching out every last moment of summer with your crop top, silky pants and those teardrop sunnies you knew you’d wear more than once. In your face FW18.
Bare-leg weather may be slowly slipping away, but that doesn't mean there's just one pant to turn to. Give your jeans a day off and try out some fashion week-approved wide strides like these tartan numbers. Wear now with a tucked-in knit and slides, then sub in some white, '60s ankle boots when the cold toes get too much.
