INSPIRATION AND ADVICE
ASOS INSIDERS WEAR CHUNKY SNEAKERS
By Caroline Ferry, August 19, 2018
SS18 has brought us a lot of great trends. From the spectacular long-sleeved midi dress to polka dots and all the animal prints you could possibly imagine. The chunky sole sneaker trend, we'll admit, endured a slow start, but, as the temperature has cooled off a little and the world is just about ready to make friends with actual shoes and socks again, these comfy numbers are having a real moment. The ASOS Insiders are hooked, so we had a little scroll through their feeds to check out how exactly their styling theirs. Next stop, inspiration station...

Lesley has fully committed to the clean lines of the '90s by pairing her boxfresh Fila sneaks with some turned-up, rust-colored denim. The trick here is to make sure the cuff of the straight-leg jeans is rolled up really wide to balance those big ole sneakers.

The Spice Girl vibes are going strong here with Elizabeth's cute-as-a-button Depp sneakers (that could definitely pass for OG Buffalos) worn with a matchy-matchy denim mini skirt from Glamorous. Key takeaway here? Do wear socks, these platform-style sneakers are just a bit extra without some ankle-furnishing.

For that inbetweeny weather when you don't want to wear sandals with your tea dress, but it isn't boots weather yet, make like Jana and get into these pink Nike M2K Tekno cuties. The more clashier the colors, the classier the feel. Fact.

If, like Barbara, you want your chunky sneakers more on the dad side of things, add novelty ankle socks for some pretty fickleness whenever the mood strikes you. Dadcore PUMAs one day, Hello Kitty PUMAs the next. It's all about that mix.

If sporty is your sartorial mood this season, pick a color combo that will set your chunky kicks above the rest of your regular runners. And Kicki's slick '70s red, white and blue adidas YUNG-1s are the haute sneaker holy grail.
