COLOR-MATCH FOR PEAK FESTIVAL BEAUTY
By Maybelle Morgan, May 16, 2018
The crowds, the atmosphere, the acts you’ve been waiting all year to see... There’s just nothing like the insurmountable buzz of festival season. If there was ever a time to break out of your mundane makeup routine and experiment with your beauty looks, it’s then. And if you’re looking to elevate your usual glitter set-up for something a little cooler, it’s now all about matching your hair to your makeup.
Throw out the rulebook. Going matchy-matchy became our top beauty priority for SS18 after clocking the Fendi posse backstage. Shoulders up, the models worked punk-meets-fembots vibes, but with a distinctly polished element. The crux of the look remained rooted in the simple but bold color-matching. Bare faces provided the ultimate blank canvas for a thick swoop of teal winged liner, extending from the corner crease of the eye to the brow bone. Sleek, low ponytails then gave way to a razor-sharp side-parting distinguished by a shock of dyed hair falling over an eye. Iconic.
Punk has made a comeback just in time for summer, with ASOS Insider Lesley as your dedicated poster girl. On the face: strong brows + clean, buffed skin. Then, the most feline cat-eye liner sharpened up into electric-blue needle-points. And talk about throwback... Witness the return of the faux-hawk, with Lesley scraping up the sides of her hair into the crown of her head and securing with pins. Cobalt semi-permanent dye combed through the slicked parts of the ‘do amps up the wow-factor and frames the face for that eye-catching side profile.
