Every so often, a color combo comes around that for reasons which defy all logic, just works. One such pairing is orange and black, which, layered against each other, make for the perfect yin and yang of darkness meets a zingy pop of color. And it’s never felt more right than for SS18, as we creep out of the cold weather into something hopefully a little brighter. Take notes from this street-styler who has the skill all the way down…
THIS IS HOW YOU WIN A COLOR COMBO
By Maybelle Morgan, April 8, 2018
Unapologetically bright, orange is not a color to do by halves — and this Londoner goes full-on with a tangerine and black combo. Utility is the name of the game with a boiler suit and matching tinted frameless sunnies (safety goggle vibes turned all the way up). Chunky black accessories cut through the orange for a perfectly balanced look.
And to nail the look yourself? Strip back some of the warmer layers for more spring vibes. Swap the boiler suit for some lighter separates: think bright-orange utility pants with a check square-neck crop top and kitsch orange-frame glasses. Then mix up the texture with a '90s rain trench and a black fanny pack draped across the body. Stompy black boots clash up the utilitarian look for something a little grungier. Did anyone say festival?
