Do you ever come across an Instagram account and immediately drop everything? Yep, that's pretty much what happened with us and Beija Velez. The Complex News anchor is making big moves in the style space — and we're inspired. We recently caught up with the Brooklyn-based boss for a little dress-up (teamed with ASOS Makeup, of course). Read on for more with Beija, and shop her new-season looks below...

Describe your style uniform.
My style consists of athleisure, flashy streetwear mixed with essential pieces — and minimal vibes on chill days.

How do you look after your hair?
I wash my hair with either Cantu Shea Butter or Shea Moisture products. Every two weeks, I do a deep hydrating treatment mask for 45 minutes to an hour, which defines my hair texture and adds moisture.

What's your secret beauty trick?
Bentonite clay mixed with raw apple cider vinegar as a face mask works wonders on minimizing pores and helping with blemishes!

Who were your style influences growing up?
Between the ages of six through 14, I was heavily influenced by skate culture playing Tony Hawk video games on my PlayStation. I also listened to a lot of punk rock so that scene had an impact on my closet. Around 14, I was on Tumblr and that's when a lot of kids started getting a strong following from just doing them. I started thrifting and finding my own style. Eventually I got deeper into fashion and started studying guys like Dior and Saint Laurent, plus powerhouses — like FUBU — from back in the '90s and mixing all that knowledge into one.

If you could have anyone's wardrobe, whose would it be?
I would't want anyone's entire wardrobe, because I'm picky and I know I wouldn't be fond of every piece. But A$AP Rocky could throw me a few of those Alessandro Michele for Gucci pieces and some other little gems he has stashed away...

How do you dress for work?
I'm either extremely chill at work wearing slim-fit sports gear, all black or something that really stands out like jeans with safety pins all over. I wear whatever I want and however I'm feeling that day will translate through my style.

How to do a day-to-night look when it's a big day at work and you have something after?
I always come to work dressed ready. A look that can work for day and night is never planned for me. I'm just always prepared when it comes to style. Advice: if your 'fits don't work for both scenarios, I would advise to just rock something that is doable for the work environment. Make sure it's "you," comfortable and then you can switch it up later to have fun by removing some layers, unbuttoning your shirt a little or adding some vibrant accessories.
